I rarely do these writing memes, because I am slower than heck and often fail at writing anything resembling an array of characters, but! I will give this one a shot. You just might get stuff that's very tangential or completely random, but I will write something.

Write something for me. Just for me. Post it in your journal so everyone else can see it, too. A sentence, a paragraph. Nanofiction. Short story. A scene, dialogue, a picture described, a moment, anything. Long or short. But it’s got to be just for me. Tell the world you wrote it for me, even. Mine.

Then feel free to put this up in your own journal, and I'll reciprocate.

And the one that sparked me putting this up, for [livejournal.com profile] jennifer, because there is no coffee or tea at Landel's:

This is what happens when you let me loose on GIMP when punchy.

One icon, but behind the cut as it is a) animated and b) contains sprites from Ace Attorney Investigations. (Not a breakdown sprite; just a standard one for a new character who is introduced in Case 3.)

but it can't hurt to have a spoiler cut )

Okay, in entirely too much TL;DR, my thoughts on Ace Attorney Investigations. (I have no Edgeworth icons. I should fix that. Though that's partly because almost all my PW icons are snagged from past and present RP journals, and I cannot write Edgeworth to save my soul.)

Spoilers. For the whole game, not necessarily in any order. Wait to read this if you haven't finished. )
I did finish AA:I this morning, and I do have an incoherent running log of reaction bullet points, but I have not had the brain to format it. But at least I am spoiler-proof. I'll post the actual thoughts later.

If anyone posted interesting meta or reactions, feel free to link them.

(SPOILERS ALLOWED IN COMMENTS. ANYONE STILL PLAYING, AVOID.)

I'm still under the weather, but this evening had started being more awake and stir-crazy, so hopefully I'll be back to 90% or so tomorrow. And now to bed, in hopes of ensuring this.

I have acquired AAI! And begun playing! And that is pretty much all I am going to say on that until I've finished it.

I'm remarkably susceptible to feeling I must agree with other people's opinions, especially on things like tv/movies/games, and I want to play it straight-up. I've seen some sprite sheets, and heard the music, and that's about it.

I will be taking playthrough notes and doing a spoiler review at the end, but until I've done that, I'm ignoring all of the communities and discussion posts. See ya on the flip side.

And I'm not going to race the playthrough -- I'll play on the train and that's about it. So it'll take a little while. And keep me not wanting to kill everyone ever in the interim, hopefully. (Stress is not related to y'all, I promise.)
Trains good. Sleep good. Missing snowstorm in Boston, sadface, but at least it's pretty here too.

I'll be scarce online though not hiatused from game stuff -- checking email but not booting up AIM.

Also, I have a zillion of those $10 off coupons. Many people who are not me have already much more eloquently said that this is lame on the scale of holiday promotions, but if anyone wants one, I cannot envision running out of them.

Also, am replaying PW1 for the first time in ages and I'd forgotten how much fun it is; the only GS/AA game I'd played lately at all was running through 4-4, which is one of my least favorite cases. Enough that I replayed all of Turnabout Sisters despite really only needing to see a couple of lines, all of which are in the script I have.

D---- leaned over on the train and said, and I quote: "emo lawyers?". Pfft.

Instead of making icons for Taura, I spent way, way too long in GIMP making this one. Four separate images, wiping Brushel's original glasses off his face, and shrinking a mint leaf down and having it still be recognizeable. I'm starting to get the hang of iconing, at least. (Or I think so -- I'm quite happy with how this turned out.)

Also, the black background is a crop of Spider's crotch. Because it was the largest solid bit in a dark color I could find in the panel I already had open.

At some point, I'll do an updated intro. I've been meaning to do that for ages, and a point at which there are new people is probably a good one. *waves to new people* But not tonight.

Tonight, I'm just going to whine at Capcom, again, about the massive plot holes in Apollo Justice.

Yeah, spoilers for Apollo Justice )

In conclusion, coherency: get some, Capcom. Also, I am playing Brushel again, over at [livejournal.com profile] forjusticeonly. Whee. Hence trying, yet again, to glean an actual timeline from AJ.
Title: Lighter Than Air
Fandom: Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban
Pairing/Characters: Ema/Maya
Summary: Everything can be explained by the power of SCIENCE!
Rating/Warnings: G-rated. Unbeta'ed, straight from the meme. It does fill the prompt, so if that squicks you, please just skip it.
Prompt/Kink: Maya/Ema....body inflation plz. oh god don't hurt me I am just a poor anon
Word count: 446
Author's note: Okay, so writing this was a bit odd. There was bitching and wankery on the meme over the request, and my initial response was something along the lines of:
Huh, a kink I hadn't even heard of. Weird, wonder what it is....hmm, that's as weird as macro/micro to me in that it's just so unrealistic. Wouldn't that leave stretch marks? ...Come to think of it, why doesn't Maya (or Pearl) end up with stretch marks... Ema: "SCIENCE!"

So I wrote it on the train home, and then I didn't out myself on it because I didn't want to deal with the possibility of wank. But I changed my mind, since people are being obnoxious again on the meme -- so here it is for posterity, and for some sort of solidarity.

Title: Let Her Walk
Fandom: Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban
Pairing/Characters: Lana Skye, completely gen.
Summary: Lana isn't above wanting revenge in the only way she can get it.
Warnings: Unbeta'd
Word count: 1424
Author's note: Written as an exercise in writing Lana and because half of it of it popped into my head the first time I played 3-5 and Edgeworth mentioned only having one case against Mia, and the other half arrived a few months later (while reading the kinkmeme, sadly). Concrit always welcome; I'm still not sure I'm happy with it but I might finally put this up as the first thing on my Objection account.

It took five re-reads of the case summary before Lana could see anything past the victim's name.... )
So I was dithering about buying Apollo Justice immediately, and then hit the end of Minish Cap just as the train was pulling into the station last Wednesday. (And there's a GameStop in the mall next to Back Bay Station.) So I caved and bought it. It was that or Advance Wars, and I wasn't in a wargame mood.

Also, because I forgot to post it earlier: the MIT Mystery Hunt was awesome, even if I caught the flu from it. The puzzles were, on average, harder-than-usual. But one easy-and-fun one that I solved solo except for a little fandom-IDing help, was the one made up entirely of bad fanfic.

Hack Writer, click on the "Check Answer" in the upper-right to see the solution. If you've never seen a mystery-hunt style puzzle, the page there is all we got, but we knew the answer was either a single word or a short phrase, because we'd need to call it in to headquarters. Almost all the hunt puzzles have that sort of answer -- one word, a famous name, or a short phrase.

Spoilers through midway through 4-4, will post again when finished )

People keep requesting Phoenix Wright/Torchwood crossovers on the kink meme, and I just can't quite see the crossover working; the tone of the universes doesn't line up. I couldn't help thinking of the PW cast *watching* Torchwood, though. So, in honor of the new season starting, have a drabble. Contains fake spoilers for future Torchwood -- these are NOT based on reality, so don't worry that you've been spoiled if something seems unfamiliar.

Unbeta'ed, Phoenix & Maya, somewhere around 200 words.

With all the random slamming of acafen I've been seeing lately around ([livejournal.com profile] metafandom, why do I read all your links?), I'd been feeling kinda down on fandom.

Then Kotaku linked this, a mostly-fluff but still fun piece on how RPG/MMORPG quests parallel classical oral epics. *hugs* the internet. I miss being able to be a recreational classicist. (It was my minor in college; those classes kicked my ass up one side and down the other and I loved them to pieces.)

And for the PW folks reading this, I really ought to write up how closely the games follow several patterns in classical tragedy. Video games *are* a literary form, and thankfully some bits of academia have started to see that.
From the cross-examination of "Five Years Ago" to just before the last testimony + cross-examination.

Request: Matt Engarde giving Ron DeLite a blowjob please.
Pairing: Matt/Ron, with background Ron/Dessie and hints of Matt/Juan weirdness
Warnings: Explicit sexual content
Summary: Matt is willing to make sacrifices for stardom.
Author's note: Someone on the meme made the valid comment that it's hard to see why Ron goes along with this; there's more in my head but I was having a lot of trouble with Ron's voice in general. Concrit completely welcome, as always.

Title: Hardware Solutions
Prompt: Lisa Basil/sexual electrocution. Because even though it kind of squicks me out, it won't get out of my head. Bonus points if it's solo or takes place in a closet.
Characters: Just Lisa.
Warnings: Electrical play, also other pain-causing activities. I wasn't sure if the OP actually wanted electrocution or just electrostimulation; this only contains the latter (no death or injury).
Word count: 1495
Summary: Sparks fly.
Author's note: Don't try this at home. I mean that very seriously; while I did do some research to determine that the gerry-rigged equipment in this is remotely feasible when compared to the electrostimulation units used by doctors for physical therapy, it's also ridiculously dangerous. There ARE safe ways to play with electricity; this is not one of them.

Prompt: WAAAGH! OMGYAY! That's SOOOO CUTE! I love you, Anon! (i.e. one of those accidental misplaced comments.)
Author's note: This came immediately to mind on reading the comment, so I wrote it. Written without even rereading originally; just dumped and posted. (I did correct the lone spelling error here.) Maya & Phoenix, gen. Spoilers for a name from JFA, no actual case details. Drabble-ish length; I didn't count the words.

Fan Mail )
From where the previous one left off until just before the first cross-examination of Dahlia (5 Years Ago). This is long because there's two paths through a large chunk of it. And a really adorable Diego&Mia failure scene; it seems the makers really like to reward you for screwing up the MOST OBVIOUS prompts.
tl;dr. )
