Seen a variety of places, but proximate cause =
lady_angelina, here's 30 days of video games. It will probably take me at least twice that long to get through it, as I'll just post another day when I feel like it, but here goes!
Day 1 - Very first video game
This is a bit of a puzzler. I have been using computers since before I really knew how to read, and some of my earliest memories (or at least earliest ones I can approximately date) are of playing with my father's Radio Shack Color Computer. I was born in 1979; I learned to read at age 3 or so, so this had to be ~1982. The games, however, were primarily things like a program my dad had that would turn the keyboard musical -- each key a different note, and the screen test program. Yes, the screen test program. It had a zillion different patterns and you could key them up and watch them. I was learning how to read at the time, and one thing stuck with me -- the color cyan.
See, when I finally figured out enough reading, there was a color test part to the screen test. Which was screwed up on our machine; the color names didn't match the colors behind them. All of them were colors I knew -- except cyan. So despite knowing it had to be wrong, since all the rest are, cyan is unmutably beige in my head, even though I know it isn't.
As for actual games, we had one of those Snake game variants on there, which I remember playing myself AND seeing my parents play.
The rest of the days:
